Jun 6 - Jul 31 Applications for the 2025 Northwest Georgia Master Naturalist Program are available Dallas, GA The Georgia Master Naturalist Program is a hands-on environmental education course that explores habitats and ecosystems in Georgia and human impacts on these environments. This 9 week program consists of weekly field trips with in-depth lectures from regional experts on a wide variety of environmental and ecological topics. Transportation can be arranged for limited number of participants from one of the three host counties. The program dates are every Friday in September and every Thursday in October including a overnight on Oct. 23-24. The program days are from 9:00am to 4:00pm with an hour lunch, not including drive time. Registration is complete once you have completed the online application and paid the fee in full through the Cobb County Extension Office. Space is limited in the class and registration will remain open until August 20 or when we have filled all spaces, whichever occurs first.
Jun 11 4-H Forestry Judging Practice Dallas, GA Forestry Judging is progressive and each practice builds upon the last. At summer practices we review and learn our trees, practice our measurement technique and create our study materials. Once we finish summer practices, we're really just practicing things we've already learned. If you have friends who are interested in joining the team, please invite them to the first practice, so they don't miss any of the important stuff! Some reminders about practice: ? Bring a three-ring binder for your manual. ? Bring any flashcards you have from last year's meetings. ? Wear tennis shoes (closed toe and heel). ? Bring your lunch. ? Bring water and sunscreen! (It's going to be HOT!) ? Be on time!
